Church are pleased to announce the signing of Pakistan Test cricketer Asad Shafiq as Professional for the 2023 season. The right-handed batter and off-break bowler will be the most capped International player to have represented the club, having played 77 Test Matches (a record 72 of these came in consecutive Tests from his debut in 2010). He has also represented Pakistan in 60 ODI's and 10 T20 Internationals.

A mainstay of the Pakistan middle order, Shafiq holds the record for most Test hundreds whilst batting at number 6. His 9 centuries eclipsing the previous record of 8 held by Sir Garfield Sobers. In all, Asad Shafiq has 12 Test centuries and has amassed 4660 Test Match runs.

In domestic cricket, Shafiq is Captain of Balochistan and has 11,372 First Class runs to his name with another 5,574 in List A matches and 2,531 T20 runs.
